In Fourth Grade, we learn how to sing new songs in various tonalities and meters. In music class, your student will learn how to play musical instruments such as the hand drum, triangle, glockenspiel, tubano and bongo drums, and eventually the xylophone and metallophone. Throughout the school year, your child will also learn to sing with their class and as an individual. They will continue to echo rhythm and tonal patterns on solfege syllables.

In addition, fourth graders will play the recorder in class! They will learn how to play tonal and rhythm patterns on the recorder, along with selected songs. They will also learn how to read these patterns and songs on the treble staff.  All the while, they will have the experience of playing as an ensemble member. Links to these songs will be added shortly.

We will also be preparing repertoire for school assemblies and programs. You will find links to these songs below. I strongly encourage students to practice at home and your support is much appreciated.
