In Kindergarten, we move with "flow" as we learn new songs in various tonalities and meters. Props such as scarves, bean bags, and egg shakers help us to move our bodies as we sing and listen. Throughout the school year, your student will learn how to play their first musical instruments such as the jingle bells, tambourine, hand drum, and glockenspiel. We will also be preparing repertoire for school assemblies and programs. You will find links to these songs below. I strongly encourage students to practice at home and your support is much appreciated.

HOLIDAY PROGRAM
In Third Grade, we will learn new songs in various tonalities and meters and label them. Throughout the school year, your student will learn how to play musical instruments such as the tambourine, hand drum, triangle, glockenspiel, tubano and bongo drums, and eventually the xylophone and metallophone. In music class, your child will learn to sing with their class and as an individual. They will also learn to echo rhythm and tonal patterns on solfege syllables.
We will also be preparing repertoire for school assemblies and programs. You will find links to these songs below. I strongly encourage students to practice at home and your support is much appreciated.

Star Wars on Boomwhackers!
Third Graders at Lakeside and Breton Downs have been working hard the past few weeks to perform the main theme from Star Wars on boomwhackers. They have learned how to read notes on a staff and how to sing these notes on solfege. In addition, they have worked as a class to stay in tempo and perform as an ensemble. Fabulous job!
To see a video of their performance, go to the "What's New! (Blog)" section on my website and find the school and teacher's name from the links below.
